(71:1) I sent Prophet Noah to his people saying, “Warn your people. A painful punishment is approaching.”
(71:2) He said, “My people, I am coming to you with a clear warning.
(71:3) Worship God, fear His punishment, and listen.
(71:4) God will forgive your past sins and bless the time you have for living. When death comes it cannot be postponed, so don’t hesitate in accepting and believing.”
(71:5) Then Noah called to Me complaining, “Oh my Lord, I have called my people night and day.
(71:6) All they do is run away.
(71:7) When I call them to accept your religion and be forgiven, they put their fingers in their ears, cover their faces to hide and don’t listen. They insist on their beliefs, are arrogant and stubborn.
(71:8) I tried calling them openly.
(71:9) Then I tried calling them sometimes overtly and sometimes discreetly.
(71:10) I told them, ‘Ask your Lord for forgiveness, God is very forgiving.
(71:11) God will send clouds with rain pouring,
(71:12) and God will give you more money and children and will give you orchards and rivers flowing.
(71:13) What is wrong with you that you don’t respect God’s greatness?
(71:14) When He created you in stages.
(71:15) Don’t you see how God created the atmosphere in layers?
(71:16) Don’t you see the bright moon in the sky or the sun God gave you as a burning lamp?
(71:17) God made you grow from the fruits of the land like plants.
(71:18) Then you will die and return to dust. On the Day of Judgment, you will be brought back from the earth’s crust.
(71:19) God made the earth smooth and easy for living,
(71:20) and God gave you wide paths for your traveling.’”
(71:21) Then Noah called to Me saying, “My Lord, they have disobeyed me and followed those who’s money and children increased them in misguidance and a feeling of superiority.
(71:22) And they plotted plans to slay me.
(71:23) They followed their leaders who kept saying, ‘Do not leave your idols. Do not leave Wad, Suwa, Yaghoutha, Yaooqa, or Nasra. They are your gods for worshiping.’
(71:24) They misguided many people, Oh Lord. Let the evil people go down for their sinning.”
(71:25) So with a flood, I drowned them for what they were doing. Then they were thrown in Hell for all eternity. They didn’t find anyone to protect them from Me.
(71:26) As the flood came Noah was praying, “Oh my Lord, do not leave anyone from this generation who rejected your message left living.
(71:27) If you leave any of them they will misguide more of your people, and they will have children who will grow up disobedient and ungrateful.
(71:28) Oh my Lord, forgive me and my parents and whoever entered my house with faith, and forgive all the men and women of faith who believed in the Day of Resurrection. Oh Lord, do not give anything to the oppressive sinful people except more death and destruction.”
